FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Starting therapy might feel intimidating at first. Here are answers to some questions you might have. If you have further questions, give me a call.

What is your fee?

My fee for a 50-minute therapy session is $200 for an individual and $225 for a couple or family. Sometimes a longer session is beneficial, especially in family or couples therapy. Longer sessions are available, as needed/requested.

Do you offer a sliding scale if I cannot afford your full fee?

I do have some sliding scale spots which are available on an as-needed basis, depending on your income. Feel free to discuss this with me if finances are an issue.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept private insurance but am happy to provide you with regular invoices which you can submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. Check with your insurance company to see if they provide partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers.

How do we get started and how will I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

Either send me an email or call or text me to set up an initial (free) phone conversation. This will be an opportunity for me to understand your need for therapy and will allow you to ask questions about how I might be able to help you. Its usually a good idea to talk to a few different therapists during your search so you can get a sense of each therapist’s style. The relationship between therapist and client is imperative for therapy to be effective. In fact, the American Psychological Association conducted research and concluded that the therapeutic relationship is as important to the psychotherapy outcome as is any particular treatment method.

How often will we meet?

I typically meet with clients on a weekly basis. This allows the progress to move along quickly. Once a therapeutic alliance is established and progress is being made, we can move to every other week or even monthly if that makes best clinical sense.

When will therapy end?

Therapy shouldn’t last forever. My aim is to help you reach your goals as soon as possible. Typically, we will terminate once your stated treatment goals have been met. The time line for this varies from client to client.

After termination, I am available for booster sessions as needed. Many former clients return years later for a brief period of time to get support and guidance when life gets complicated.
